The LANL Foundation and the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF) proudly celebrate the 2025 recipients of their scholarship awards, recognizing the achievements of outstanding students across Northern New Mexico as they pursue higher education. This year, 138 students earning bachelor’s degrees have been awarded 147 scholarships, totaling a record-breaking $1,030,000.
Since 1999, the LANL Foundation has awarded more than 2,600 scholarships, surpassing $13 million in total funding. These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of the workforce of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Triad National Security, and community members who have entrusted the LAESF Advisory Committee and the LANL Foundation to administer their named and endowed scholarship funds.
This year, the Foundation received nearly $900,000 in new scholarship funding thanks to the establishment of five new funds, including:
- Dr. Charles McMillan Tribute
- Española Education Association, Inc.
- National Security Workforce
- Veterans Scholarship
Among this year’s recipients are three exceptional students who have been awarded the prestigious $20,000 Gold Scholarship:
- Amelia Martinez, Taos Academy
- Hanbi Park, Santa Fe High School
- Uxue Sansinea, Los Alamos High School
“We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors and partners who make this scholarship program possible. With each new fund and every dollar donated, we are able to deepen our impact and lift up more students from northern New Mexico who seek to improve their lives through higher education,” said LANL Foundation Scholarship Program Director Mike Ammerman. “I thank the volunteers who devoted countless hours to ensuring a thorough and fair review of the nearly 400 applications that the review committee ranked this year. The competition for scholarships was fierce, with extremely qualified applicants across all seven counties of Northern New Mexico. The stories that the students relate in their applications are inspirational and give confidence that the next generation is ready to step into the increasingly complex workforce of tomorrow,” said Phil Stauffer, LAESF Chair.

- On-campus support programs for first-year and transfer students at the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University.
- The LANL Scholars Professional Mentorship Program, connecting students with industry mentors who provide guidance, career advice, and networking support.
- Paid summer internships at Los Alamos National Laboratory, with students matched to mentors in their fields of interest for hands-on experience in STEM and other disciplines.
The Foundation also offers the Career Pathways Scholarship, supporting students pursuing associate degrees, certificates, and trade credentials.
