ISEC Teacher Training

Interested in becoming an ISEC teacher?

The LANL Foundation offers ISEC Teacher Training three times a year – our annual four-day Summer Teachers’ Institute, as well as two make-up training sessions in the fall and winter. These trainings include condensed kit curriculum, site-based student-centered coaching, effective inquiry STEAM instruction, and high-yield best practices.

Teachers are the fundamental change agents in schools. By providing on-going opportunities for teachers to grow, reflect, feel validated, and develop their practice, ISEC makes an impact with a systemic approach.

Summer Teachers’ Institute

Each summer, ISEC teachers attend the Teachers’ Institute for a deep dive into the investigative teaching and learning process and guidance on individual lessons specific to their grade’s curriculum module. Next Generation Science Standards and current state standards are built into K–6 grade level kits and curriculum. Teachers are paid a stipend for this professional development that also includes a focus on notebooking, argumentation, classroom management strategies, and overall pedagogy.

The Teachers’ Institute is REQUIRED of and only available for newly hired teachers or those who have changed grade levels in ISEC schools.
