Española, New Mexico – As part of LANL Foundation’s partnership with Wildflower International, the first Dell Technologies/Wildflower International Scholar will be named in 2023. Established by a $100,000 gift from Wildflower International with support from Dell Technologies, the soon-to-be endowed fund provides educational scholarships for Northern New Mexico high school seniors and undergraduates pursuing studies in computer science and other technology-based disciplines.
“High school graduates wanting to pursue post-secondary education, face myriad challenges and obstacles, especially those in Northern New Mexico, and financial resources typically top the list,” said Andrew Balzarini, Senior Director at Wildflower International. “Being born and raised in Northern New Mexico, Wildflower International also faced similar challenges, and through the strength of our partnership with Dell Technologies, our dedicated team, lots of patience and perseverance, we’ve grown into one of the largest woman-owned businesses in the state. By creating the Dell Technologies/Wildflower International Endowed Scholarship Fund, we hope to remove, or at least minimize, the largest burden most students face and encourage them to invest in themselves and their communities.”
Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF) Advisory Committee and the funds will be administered by the LANL Foundation. The goals of the Dell Technologies/Wildflower International Endowed Scholarship Fund reflect Dell’s “Transforming Lives with Technology” initiative and the company’s goal of advancing STEM education.
The LANL Foundation is now accepting applications for its four-year undergraduate scholarships. One application allows students to be considered for over 25 scholarships, including the Dell Technologies/Wildflower International scholarship. “We are so grateful for the generosity of these two companies,” said Jenny Parks, the President and CEO of the LANL Foundation. “It is rare to have two global companies invest in our Northern New Mexico students, but they know how brilliant our students are — and how a paid scholarship can make the difference in whether students are able to pursue their dreams.”
