Job Summary:             

The College, Career, and Community Pathways (C3P) Equitable Access Projects Manager supports the C3P Program in coordinating and aligning funding, organizations, people, and data to expand and improve access to college, career and community pathway opportunities for Native American and other youth and young adults of color, opportunity youth and young adults, young parents, and other underrepresented youth and young adults in Northern New Mexico. With the support of C3P Program staff, the Manager will build and manage relationships and plan, manage, and implement projects and initiatives with a particular focus on supporting the Northern New Mexico Pathways to Opportunity Strategy Table (“Strategy Table”) and the New Mexico Native American Workforce Partners (“NMNAWP”) (see below for more details). This is a full-time grant funded position that is reviewed annually. While continued funding is not guaranteed, we expect the position to last three years or more. Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of philanthropy, public funding sources, college and career pathways, career technical education, work-based learning and workforce development, and have a personal philosophy and values consistent with the mission and vision of the LANL Foundation. A successful candidate is a dynamic, detail-oriented self-starter who is passionate about all Northern New Mexicans having equitable access to opportunities to pursue their interests, build their skills, contribute positively to their communities, and thrive.

Job Responsibilities:

Philanthropic, Public, and Stakeholders Engagement, Coordination and Alignment

  • Works with Tribal Nations, secondary and post-secondary institutions, unions, employers, non-profits, public agencies and other partners to ensure that youth of color, opportunity youth, young parents and other underrepresented youth in Northern New Mexico have equitable access to college and career pathways and workforce development opportunities so they can improve their economic outcomes.
  • Supports the identification, development, and implementation of models to increase, align and better leverage philanthropic and public funding to ensure that college and career pathways, workforce development and work-based learning programs and initiatives are equitable and accessible to all populations, particularly underserved youth and young adults.
  • Supports the Strategy Table in refining its goals, plans, strategies, tactics, indicators and actions and implementing coordinated philanthropic and public investment frameworks, strategies and measures to accomplish the Strategy Tables’ goals.
  • Facilitates authentic and equitable engagement with partners and stakeholder groups, particularly Tribal Nations and assists them with developing and implementing actions to improve access to philanthropic and public resources, including reducing internal and cross-foundation barriers.

Project Management

  • Organizes and ensures success of meetings, events, and convenings of C3P-related collaboratives and stakeholders, particularly the Strategy Table and NMNAWP, with support from C3P Program staff.
  • Effectively plans, manages, and implements C3P Program initiatives and projects from conception to successful completion, with support from C3P Program staff.
  • Prepares and finalizes presentation slides, memos, reports, flyers, handouts, presentation and communication materials, news releases, and other materials in collaboration with VPCPA and Communications Director.
  • Maintains an organized system to track, prioritize, and ensure timely and effective completion of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with foundation colleagues, partners, contractors, and the leaders and members of various C3P initiatives and partnerships and other stakeholders.
  • Helps identify, coordinate, and cultivate relationships with other funders and develops grant proposals to support C3P Program goals and objectives.
  • Manages the process of retaining consultants to support the C3P Program, including developing and overseeing their scopes of work to successful completion.
  • Manages budgets, expenditures and staff, as needed.
  • Able to work some evenings and/or weekends (on rare occasions).
  • Conducts research using various mechanisms to support planning, implementation, and evaluation of C3P projects and initiatives.
  • Able to manage adaptive work and take the lead on structuring projects from idea to completion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Develops a thorough knowledge of the C3P Program including its operational structure, current projects, initiatives and partnerships as well as C3P staff’s scope of responsibilities, priorities and commitments.
  • Identifies and participates in professional development opportunities to support continuous improvement and mastery of job skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

Educational and Professional Experience Combined with a Learning Orientation  

  • BA/BS degree in public policy, education, economics, social sciences or another related field and a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience, applied knowledge, and past performance in those fields.
  • Proven track-record managing and leading multiple complex projects to successful outcomes.
  • Commitment to building expertise in public financing and budgets.
  • Understanding of philanthropy, public funding streams, education and workforce systems, and educational transformation approaches.

Mission Driven and Community Centered

  • Strong commitment to the vision, mission and guiding principles of the Foundation
  • Familiarity with the diversity of northern New Mexico communities, including prior knowledge and experience working with Native American Tribes, Pueblos and Nations and Native communities.
  • Knowledge of federal, tribal, state and philanthropic funding resources for college and career pathways and workforce development.
  • Evidence of deep knowledge about and meaningful relationships with Native American and other youth and young adults of color, opportunity youth and young adults, young parents and other underrepresented youth and young adults in Northern New Mexico.

  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills including the ability to foster and encourage collaboration and work as part of a team.

Technical Skills, References and Writing

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, One Drive, Google drive and Google documents as well as Excel, Tableau, and/or Power BI preferred.
  • Experience in calendar management, travel arrangements and event planning preferred.
  • Valid and unrestricted NM driver’s license.
  • Three (3) professional references provided.
  • Two (2) writing samples provided reflective of this job description.

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000, depending on experience. Generous benefits package includes health, education, dental, vision, disability, and life insurances, retirement, vacation and sick leave. The LANL Foundation is a friendly and team-oriented environment with flexible hours and a hybrid workplace model (majority remote work, but in either Santa Fe or Española office, as needed). Background on Strategy Table and NMNAWP:

The LANL Foundation co-created and provides backbone support for the Strategy Table, which was formed in 2021 and is composed of representatives of 12 national, regional and local funders. It is working to better coordinate, align and leverage philanthropic and public funding to expand and improve access to college, career and community pathway opportunities for underrepresented youth middle school age through age 29 in Northern New Mexico. Additionally, through our partnership with the NMNAWP, we assist Tribal nations and off-reservation Native communities advance self-determination and economic self-sufficiency through improving their workforce development and college and career preparation efforts. The NMNAWP is a network of 15 tribal workforce development programs funded by Section 166 of the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act and P.L. 102-477.
