Española, New Mexico – LANL Foundation’s President & CEO Jenny Parks, Vice-President of Institutional Advancement & Scholarship Tony Fox, and Scholarship Program Coordinator Silvia Aguirre joined host Andrew Balzarini for the latest episode of “A Wild Idea” to discuss the new Dell Technologies/ Wildflower International Scholarship Fund.

Established by a $100,000 gift from Wildflower International with support from Dell Technologies, the scholarship will be awarded annually to a Northern New Mexico high school senior or undergraduate pursuing a degree in computer science or other technology-based disciplines. The first recipient of this scholarship, Samuel Landis, a homeschool student, was announced in March.
In just its first year of existence, the Dell Technologies/Wildflower International Scholarship Fund is on track to be fully endowed by the end of 2023. The first Dell Technologies/Wildflower International Scholar will be named this spring.
Established by a $100,000 gift from Wildflower International with support from Dell Technologies, the scholarship will be awarded annually to a Northern New Mexico high school senior or undergraduate pursuing studies in computer science or other technology-based disciplines.
“We have some of the best and brightest high school graduates here in Northern New Mexico, but financial strains can often limit their options when they want to pursue post-secondary education,” said Andrew Balzarini, Senior Director at Wildflower International. “By creating the Dell Technologies/Wildflower International Endowed Scholarship Fund, we hope to remove, or at least minimize, the financial burden most students face and encourage them to invest in themselves and their communities.”
Scholarship recipients are selected by the Los Alamos Employee Scholarship Fund (LAESF) Advisory Committee and approved by the LANL Foundation Board of Directors. The goals of the Dell Technologies/Wildflower International Endowed Scholarship Fund reflect Dell’s “Transforming Lives with Technology” initiative and the company’s goal of advancing STEM education.
