APPLY NOW: Application Opens for LANL Foundation’s Competitive Grants
Twenty $5,000 Community Outreach Grants and Twenty-eight $50,000 Education Enrichment Grants Will Be Awarded
Española, NM – Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation is now accepting applications for their competitive grant cycle. The Foundation’s competitive grants support schools, school districts, non-profits, Pueblos, Nations, and tribal communities in their seven-county service area of Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel, Santa Fe, and Taos counties. The Foundation also serves Cochiti Pueblo, Jemez Pueblo, Jicarilla Apache Nation, Kewa Pueblo, Laguna Pueblo, Pueblo of Nambe, Navajo Nation, Ohkay Owingeh, Picuris Pueblo, Pueblo of Pojoaque, San Felipe Pueblo, Pueblo de San Ildefonso, Pueblo of Sandia, Santa Ana Pueblo, Pueblo of Santa Clara, Taos Pueblo, Tesuque Pueblo, and Zia Pueblo.
Interested applicants can apply for either the Community Outreach Grants ($5,000) or the Education Enrichment Grants ($50,000 over two years). The Foundation will be awarding 20 Community Outreach Grants for a total of $100,000 and 28 Education Enrichment Grants for a total of $1.4 million.
“We are calling for applicants to tell us what they see as the most pressing needs in their communities and schools,” said Sylvan Argo, Grants Manager at the LANL Foundation. “We look forward to supporting initiatives across the region. We recognize that our partners working in non-profits, schools, and tribal communities hold the wisdom the expertise to effect positive change that will help all our communities thrive.”
The LANL Foundation prioritizes investing in tribal and rural communities, homegrown and regionally based organizations and programs, culturally and linguistically sustaining and affirming programs, and student and community capacity building in alignment with the science of learning and development. The Foundation is hosting a series of online help sessions for applicants. This year, the Foundation is also creating a Grants Community Advisory Committee (GCAC) so that students, teachers, school leaders, counselors, early childhood specialists, and other community members can participate in the awarding of Community Outreach grants.
“We want to ensure that our work is guided by those most proximate to the issues. Community members are the natural advocates, and we want to amplify their voices in this process,” said Whitney Jones, Grants Coordinator at the LANL Foundation. “These dedicated volunteers will help us to connect with the people and communities that we serve and their participation ensures that the decision-making process is shared and distributed equitably.”
