Application opens for LANL Foundation’s Career Pathways Scholarships

LANL Foundation is now accepting applications for Career Pathways Scholarships. These awards are for individuals who have a specific career in mind and are committed to earning an associate’s degree or certification in any field or trade. They are available to high school students and adult learners with a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency (HSE).

Elena Gallegos Finds the Challenges and Joys of Freshman Year

Taylor Swift, Elena’s Gallegos’ favorite artist, sings the lyrics “if you never bleed, you’re never gonna grow” in her song The 1. Elena says she finds courage in these words when facing an unknown future. The 2023 Coronado High School graduate and Bronze Scholarship recipient is learning as she goes, experiencing all the challenges and joys of her freshman year at UNM in Albuquerque.

APPLY NOW: Application opens for LANL Foundation’s 4-Year Scholarships 

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation is now accepting applications for our four-year undergraduate scholarship awards. Whether pursuing a degree in STEAM, healthcare, education, business, or the humanities, students who meet the eligible criteria are welcome to apply. While most applicants are current high school seniors, undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited, post-secondary educational institution are also encouraged to apply.

LANL Foundation Receives “Building Capacity” Award for Supporting and Developing Teachers in New Mexico

LANL Foundation has been recognized by the New Mexico National Board Certified Teacher Network (NM-NBCT) for its work to support and develop teachers in New Mexico. The Education Enrichment team at the Foundation was singled out for their efforts to recruit and bolster teacher candidates seeking their National Board Certification. Michael Dabrieo, Education Enrichment Director at LANL Foundation, and Paul Le Francois, K12 Program Coordinator, were awarded the “Building Capacity” award at a ceremony in Artesia on September 16th during the annual conference of the New Mexico National Board Network.

New Mexico Awarded STEMx Challenge Grant

Today, the national STEMx network announced funding for four states to launch science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education advocacy programs. In New Mexico, LANL Foundation has been awarded a STEMx Challenge Grant which will help support the Northern New Mexico STEAM Coalition to create a statewide plan for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) advocacy and education, as well as support students from rural and Tribal areas to participate in the 2024 STEAM Day at the Legislature, an annual event held at the Roundhouse during the legislative session.

New Mexico Governor’s STEM Challenge Announces 2024 Question and Opens Registration

The New Mexico Governor’s STEM Challenge has announced its 2024 Challenge Question as it kicks off student team recruitment. Celebrating its fifth year, the Challenge is an annual competition where high school students from across the state showcase their skills and knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to build practical solutions for real-world problems.
