Wilmer has made education a passion of his from the start and is committed to making education the best it can be, especially for underserved communities.
He is the Superintendent of the Winooski School District in Vermont and supports future education leaders through his work as a Program Core Experience Coach at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. He is the former principal of Fairview Elementary School in Española, the largest primary school in the area, and a former English Language Arts teacher at Española Valley High School. He is a Thomas J. Watson fellow and Davis Scholar. After graduating high school in Nicaragua, he attended the University of Central America for Industrial Engineering, the Pearson United World College in British Columbia, Earlham College in Indiana, the University of New Mexico for Educational Leadership, and Harvard University for a Master of Education Policy degree.
He looks forward to continuing to be of support to his loved Northern New Mexico community whether from near or afar. Being a part of the LANL Foundation family is a privilege and a responsibility he cherishes.
