Pete Goldschmidt

Pete Goldschmidt, Ph.D., joined the LANL Foundation in April of 2026 as the Director of Research and Evaluation.  His primary role is to support ongoing initiatives in identifying successes and challenges as well as to lead research into promising mechanisms supporting the LANL Foundation mission in applying its core strategies to create expanded opportunities for Northern New Mexico youth.

Pete brings a broad array of research and evaluation experience, having supported school, district, state, and national education agencies.  Most recently, he was a professor of research methods, evaluation, and statistics in the Micheal D. Eisner College of Education at California State University Northridge.  Prior to that Pete was a senior researcher at the UCLA Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing, as well as the Center for Language Minority Education and Research.

Pete earned his Ph.D. in social science research methods from UCLA, his master’s degree in economics from UC Santa Barbara, and his bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA.  When Pete is not crunching numbers, he can be found (or not) of the beaten path with camera in hand.
