Dr. Adán Delgado has served New Mexico’s public education system for more than 27 years. Dr. Delgado served as a Superintendent of Schools in New Mexico for more than 11 years and was ALAS NM’s Superintendent of the Year in 2015. He served as Executive Director of a Regional Education Cooperative (REC). He was a principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and a secondary teacher with Level III teaching credentials in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology Education, and Information Technology. Dr. Delgado served as Deputy Cabinet Secretary of Education in charge of finance and operations at the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) – in this role, he oversaw all of New Mexico’s public school finances for K-12 education ($5 billion+), public school transportation, and the NMPED’s Information Technology and department operations. Dr. Delgado has served on multiple state and national boards and committees; including the Board of Directors for the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA), as an officer for the New Mexico School Superintendents’ Association (NMSSA), on the South Central United States Comprehensive Center Advisory Board, and as a trustee for the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB).
Dr. Delgado holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and was awarded distinction honors with his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico. Before his career in education, Dr. Delgado worked on research and development projects funded by NASA and held positions at Sandia National Laboratories and as a Research and Development Engineer at Eastman Kodak Company’s Engineering Physics Laboratory in Rochester, New York.
Dr. Delgado currently serves on his local school district’s board of education, serves on the New Mexico School Board Association Board of Directors, serves on the Los Alamos National Laboratories Foundation Board of Directors, and serves on New Mexico’s Career Technical Education Advisory Board. Additionally, he owns and actively leads an organizational strategy consulting business, providing executive coaching, training, evaluation, and strategic design and implementation to organizations and their leaders.
Dr. Delgado has been happily married for 33 years and has two children attending New Mexico’s public institutions of higher education and a third who is a graduate from the University of New Mexico.
