About the Opportunity
We’re seeking a dynamic and responsible connector to empower young parents and caregivers aged 16-24 by linking them to career pathways offering family-sustaining wages. This role focuses on our Bridges to Careers initiative by connecting employers and training providers with young parents/caregivers with the goal of helping them access on-ramps to training programs, internships, and employment opportunities with growth potential.
Outcomes
This position will build relationships with young parents to build career awareness and connect young parents/caregivers with career on-ramps and opportunities, resulting in placements. The Young Parent Outreach and Career Engagement Contractor will support a train-the-trainer model to engage partners in providing career awareness and exploration to their clients. The Young Parent Outreach and Career Engagement Contractor will co-lead the fall convening, connecting young parent-facing organizations with training providers and employers to build the career network for parents and caregivers.
Key Milestones

Key Responsibilities
- Work to match at least 15 young parents to an existing database of training programs and opportunities, or identify new opportunities
- Collaborate to update and design resources to support the program
- Connect with training providers and employers to introduce the assets of young parents, connect to “groundtruth” employment data, and solicit input and information
- Engage young parents, including follow-up from trainings, to guide them to opportunities
- Facilitate Puentes trainings or other career awareness/exploration trainings (some occur on weekends)
- Host Bridges to Careers one-one-one or small group sessions (one hour exploration of careers)
- Conduct Outreach with young parent-facing organizations to build relationships and career-connected capacity with those who serve parents
- Increase in the number of young parents and caregivers in New Mexico participating in a program to improve skills, engage support, develop career exploration/preparation, increase parenting skills, hone employability skills, and/or activate social and wrap-around support.
- Update existing materials based on emerging opportunities and community input
- Provide resources, training, and guidance to enhance career readiness and long-term economic stability
Outreach & Engagement
- Conduct targeted outreach to Young Parents and Caregivers through community partners, schools, and Tribal organizations
- Meet with training providers in order to provide a warm handoff and relational follow up
- Understand and promote support and wrap-around services of local partners (UNM Taos, Northern New Mexico, and Santa Fe Community College)
- Host monthly “Career Connection” workshops showcasing local opportunities
- Connect Young Parents and Caregivers to existing opportunities
- Maintain one-on-one follow-up with Young Parents and Caregivers who express interest in programs
- Coordinate with Santa Fe Indian School (SFIS) partners on Puentes program integration
- Create fliers and outreach materials
- Connect with partner organizations to create and follow-up with opportunities
Opportunity & Resource Navigation
Guide Young Parents and Caregivers through enrollment processes for:
- Workforce training programs (e.g., UNM-Taos certifications)
- Existing wrap-around services
Provide ongoing support during program participation
Partnership Development
- Represent the LANL Foundation to cultivate relationships with training partners (UNM-Taos, Santa Fe Community College, Northern New Mexico College)
- Collaborate with CareerWise NM, WIOA, and New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions-aligned programs
- Share employer toolkit with organizations serving young families
Data & Impact Tracking
- Maintain records of engagement
- Administer surveys
- Collect participant success stories and data for funder reports
Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in community outreach or case management
- Proven ability to build trust with diverse populations
- Willingness to learn the Northern New Mexico workforce development landscape
- Familiarity with trauma-informed engagement practices
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within service area
- Organized and dependable
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Ability to follow tasks through to completion
- Must currently live in Santa Fe, Rio Arriba or Taos County due to the travel requirements for this project
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing connection to a network of young parent-facing organizations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or Native language)
- Lived experience navigating parenting while young or being the child of a young parent
- Knowledge of TANF/SNAP/WIOA workforce provisions
