Teacher Leader Fellowship

LANL Foundation Teacher Leader Fellowship

The LANL Foundation Teacher Leader Fellowship empowers teachers in Northern New Mexico to lead with equity by strengthening  practices that cultivate curiosity, affirm identity and promote emotional and academic wellness for teachers and students, supporting schoolwide transformation through shared leadership within and across schools and communities.

Why are we doing this work?

This work creates sustainable, teacher led transformation across our Northern New Mexico regional schools.  By building networks and deepening collective capacity for equity, connection and continuous improvement in teaching and learning in our schools where educators:

  • Share strengths and challenges in school
  • Collaborate and problem solve
  • Learn from and with each other

How are we doing this work?

The LANL Foundation’s Teacher Leader Fellowship cultivates reflective, equity-centered teacher leadership by integrating three interconnected practices that honor identity, belonging and agency.  These practices help build schools and classrooms where every teacher and student is seen, respected and valued.

Big 3 Guided Practices

  • Inquiry Learning- Curiosity is encouraged and supported.
  • Social Emotional Learning Practices- Teachers and students feel safe and supported.
  • Culturally and Linguistically Sustained Practices– Identity and belonging are embraced and valued.

Who Does This Serve?

Teachers from seven Northern New Mexico school districts are participating in the LANLF TLF.  Teacher Leader Fellows strive to make school wide impact by  supporting colleagues and students by strengthening their own practice and elevating the practice of others.

Teacher leaders support each other within the Teacher Leader Fellowship

then take their learning and experiences back to their school communities.
