Alvin Warren is the Vice President of Policy & Impact for the LANL Foundation. He leads the foundation’s work to secure enactment of state legislation and appropriations and facilitate collaboration among public, philanthropic, private and nonprofit partners to expand education and career opportunities in Northern New Mexico. His love for policy stems from his 11 terms as an elected or appointed tribal leader and from serving as the second cabinet secretary of Indian Affairs for the State of New Mexico. As a former program officer for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, member of the AmeriCorps board of directors and deputy director of the multi-funder Indigenous Communities Mapping Initiative, Alvin believes strongly in the power and responsibility of funders to equitably serve tribal and rural communities and those who face the greatest barriers to opportunity. He earned a BA in History from Dartmouth College and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Alvin is a longtime farmer who’s actively involved in the cultural life of Santa Clara Pueblo.
