Doris Rivera

K-12 Professional Development Coordinator

With 20+ years of experience as an elementary teacher, Doris Rivera brings a deep understanding of the classroom to her role as K–12 Education Coordinator. In her primary role, leading the LANL Foundation’s Teacher Leader Fellowship, she shares her passion for supporting teacher leadership and believes strongly that when we care for our local teachers, they are better able to nurture and inspire their students. Guided by this philosophy, Doris works to create meaningful professional learning opportunities that empower educators and strengthen school communities.

Doris also supports several other initiatives, including the Northern New Mexico STEAM Coalition, the Indigenous Science Project, and Grandparents/Kin Raising Children, expanding her impact across the region that works towards building community, strengthening education systems, and improving educators’ and students’ well-being.

Beyond work, Doris enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and immersing herself in new places and cultures. Her love of exploration and connection fuels her belief in lifelong learning and the power of relationships, values she carries into her work with educators and the community every day.
