Early Childhood Summer Intern

Job Summary:             

The Early Childhood (EC) Program Summer Intern is a full-time, non-exempt position that will provide administrative and project support for the EC Program. Candidates must possess excellent communication, scheduling, administrative, organizational and computer literacy skills as well as a personal philosophy and values consistent with the mission and vision of the LANL Foundation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Is open to multiple perspectives.
  • Supports the EC Program (ECP) staff in ordering and purchasing materials and supplies as needed.
  • Schedules appointments, meetings, phone calls and events.
  • Supports ECP staff with booking travel and compiling, tracking and submitting program expenses including mileage and credit card receipts. 
  • Supports successful virtual and in-person meetings, including planning, troubleshooting issues, running slide decks, organizing logistics, setting up zoom, arranging details for in-person venues, sending reminder emails and other relevant documents prior to meetings and taking and distributing notes to participants.
  • Process’ stipends, honoraria and other payments. 
  • Maintains a record of all contracts and grants, including the Scope of Work documents.
  • Assists with the development and editing of project materials such as PowerPoint presentations, flyers and newsletters.
  • Maintains an organized system to track, prioritize and ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
  • Creates, updates and maintains organized files and records (physical and electronic).
  • Maintains healthy communication with ECP staff and appropriate stakeholders, including other LANL F program staff; and will coordinate correspondence as needed.
  • All assigned deadlines will be met in a timely manner.
  • Is aware of all EC program staff’s schedule and appointments and will work with EC team to maintain staff schedules, as needed.
  • Coordinates logistical arrangements and hospitality of meetings, focus groups, and educational activities held by the EC program. Sends reminder memos and agendas prior to meetings, focus groups and educational activities held by the ECP.
  • Works with ECP staff to meet deadlines for board meetings, program reports and meetings. 
  • Is able to work some evenings and/or weekends (on rare occasions).
  • Ability to think critically, creatively, and produce solutions in a team dynamic

Eligibility Requirements:

  • One years’ administrative assistance experience in a fast-paced organization preferred.
  • BA/BS degree in process – preferred but not required and a degree in business/economics/accounting is a bonus
  • Must live in the Española, Santa Fe or Los Alamos area. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficient in use of One Drive, Google drive and Google documents.
  • Experience in setting priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and work across multicultural settings and with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Experience in calendar management, travel arrangements and event planning preferred.


Compensation is $17.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with education and experience . The LANL Foundation is an equal opportunity employer. This position will be required to be in an office Monday-Thursday with the opportunity to work remotely on Fridays.
