ISEC Professional Development

All ISEC K–6 teachers in participating school districts receive professional development (PD), coaching support, and research-based science kits in order to implement effective methodology for engaging students in scientific inquiry and for enhancing teacher learning.

ISEC Professional Development includes Summer Institutes, condensed kit training, and site-based coaching and support that includes a scope and sequence of topics that support STEM instruction and include high-yield best practices.

Administrators in ISEC are also provided professional development support through Principal Institutes and quarterly meetings.

In addition, an annual Eonference on Education supports area teachers by bringing in well-respected, renowned thought leaders and keynote speakers.

2016-2017 Training
ISEC 2.0 Summer Teachers' Institute
We are excited to offer two four-day professional development trainings on June 6-9 and August 1-4 for ALL 2016-2017 ISEC teachers. Our goal for the Teachers' Institute is for teachers to be trained in inquiry pedagogy and familiarized with the brand new NGSS curriculum modules (FOSS and STC) replacing ALL old kits. The modules are designed to incorporate the "three dimensions" of NGSS that guide the vision of what it means to be proficient in science and are deliberately woven together to make the new science standards extremely robust. The trainings are split into physical science and Earth science curriculum, with exciting engineering components highlighted throughout.

This dynamic ISEC training, required for ALL current & new ISEC teachers, is offered June 6–9 OR August 1–4, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM at El Camino Real Academy located 2500 South Meadows Rd in Santa Fe. Breakfast is provided, lunch is on your own. Sessions are limited to the first 50 teachers per grade level. CLICK HERE to register by April 30.

We are pleased to announce that this year's Institute will be led by the Teacher Leadership Cadre, a group of educators from schools across all ISEC districts who will serve as your trainers! (See The Query newletter for details about this group.)

Teachers receive $600 for attending all four days. Please contact Danielle@lanlfoundation.org with questions.

For more information about ongoing professional develovment for ISEC teachers, contact Danielle Gothie ISEC Professional Development Coordinator at danielle@lanlfoundation.org or call 505-753-8890 x. 117
