Barry Herskowitz

Barry is a retired CPA who attended public schools in Queens, NY, and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Baruch College-CUNY. He was a senior accountant for a large public accounting firm and a member of the corporate finance staff of a publicly traded company before becoming an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Marymount Manhattan College. While at Marymount he was a principal in a private equity firm that specialized in mid-size business acquisitions.

In 1992 Barry and his wife Colleen moved to Santa Fe. He was an Adjunct Instructor of Business at Santa Fe Community College, a substitute elementary school teacher for Santa Fe Public Schools and currently assists a 7th grade math teacher at El Camino Real Academy as a volunteer for Communities in Schools. Barry was on the board of directors of the Santa Fe Community Foundation from 2009 to 2015 and is a member of its investment and grants committees. He was a court-appointed advocate for children in foster care and currently mentors a 14-year-old-boy through Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He is the Board Treasurer of the New Mexico Immigrant Law Center and the Doris Walbridge Foundation and a member of the Con Alma Health Foundation’s finance and audit committees. Barry joined the LANL Foundation board in 2017.
